The window to change method opened on the 3rd of each month and will run until 10th of each month, while other social grants are being paid. The agency said that the pay points does not pay the srd grant during the normal social grant payments. When the systems opened for the new grant, applications came rolling in by the millions, reaching 11 million nationally, three weeks later. Despite the high number of of requests submitted, The agency has been able to expedite payment of verified clients, while continuing to verify the remaining applications. They reminded care givers who also receive children aid that they have been approved for the and that they will paid through their cards.
These clients, who have received the grant in their card, are advised not to collect at the various collection points but to access the money at merchants or bank atms. These clients are reminded that they can also use the card to pay for purchases and not necessarily only to withdraw cash. They also added that clients whose grants are approved and paid through the collection office, must await a message notification that the it is available, to confirm where and when they can collect it. To avoid overcrowding at post offices during disbursements of approved recipients, a joint strategy was put in place by the agency, where the last three digits of the identity numbers of each qualifying recipient will be used for payment collection on a specific day of the week. This will help minimize the spread of infections and allow for social distancing.
Most importantly, if a person has not received an message from them notifying them that it is available for collection, it means it is not available yet and they have to wait wait till it is. In other words, every approved applicant must first wait for a message confirming that the grant is available. He appealed to all successful recipients to cooperate with them and only go to the post office when you have indeed received a notification message to collect your it.
You are advised to avoid disappointment and not go to the post office to ‘just check if by any chance the grant is available’. The grant will not be available if it is not the day of the week when sapo uses the last three digits of your ID number to pay.
